Workshop Policies & Guest Agreement

(Please review before completing your booking)

1. Who Can Join (Age & Attendance)

  • One Creator, One Ticket: To guarantee comfortable crafting space for everyone, each seat is reserved for a paying participant. We do not support "project sharing" or spectators. Every person in the studio area must have their own booking
  • Age Requirement (8+): We now welcome creators aged 8 and above! For safety reasons, participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please note that each attendee (both child and adult) must purchase their own ticket/seat, as we operate on a strict "one person, one kit" basis. Shared workstations or "spectator-only" guests are not permitted.

  • Safety & Liability Waiver: By booking a spot for a minor, the guardian assumes full responsibility for their supervision and safety. The guardian acknowledges that the workshop involves the use of tools (e.g., hot glue, scissors) and materials that carry inherent risks, and agrees to release The Thicket Lab from liability for any injuries arising from participation.

2. The Clock (Arrivals & Delays)

  • Session Times are Fixed: We start and end on schedule to respect the bookings that follow yours.

  • Running Late? Life happens! You are welcome to join the session at any time, but please note that your workshop will still end at the originally scheduled time.

    • Tip: We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early to settle in and maximize your creative time!

3. Cancellations & "Snow Days"

  • All Sales Are Final: Since we prep your materials in advance, we do not offer monetary refunds for cancellations.

  • Rescheduling:

    • 48+ Hours Notice: Free reschedule to any future date.

  • Extreme Weather Protocol: Your safety is our priority. In the event of severe weather warnings (e.g., heavy snowstorms, freezing rain) that make travel in Markham unsafe, we may cancel the session. If we do, you will be notified immediately and receive a complimentary reschedule credit that never expires.

4. Sip & Snack With Care

  • Drinks Welcome: You can enjoy our complimentary refreshments or your own closed-lid beverages.

  • Watch the Art: Please be mindful of where you place your drinks. Spills can ruin materials (especially clay and paper) instantly. We suggest keeping liquids strictly on the designated side tables or coasters, away from your active workspace.

5. Taking Your Art Home

Handle with Care: Some projects (like Decoden and Clay) need 2-3 days to fully cure. We provide protective takeout packaging, but once you leave the studio, the safety of your masterpiece is in your hands! Thicket Lab is not responsible for accidental damage during transport.

6. Natural Ingredients & Allergies

Please note that certain workshops at our studio (such as Incense Making, Aromatherapy, etc.) involve the use of raw natural ingredients, including wood powders, dried botanicals, and plant-based binders.

  • Allergies: While we prioritize natural materials, they can still act as allergens. If you are registering for a scent-based class and have known allergies to pollen, specific flowers, or legumes/beans, please review the specific class description or contact us before booking.

  • Respiratory Sensitivity: Classes involving the grinding of herbs or woods may produce fine dust. Guests with severe asthma or respiratory sensitivities should exercise caution.

  • Pregnancy & Sensitivity: Some natural scents (e.g., White Sage) used in specific sessions can be potent. We recommend consulting a healthcare provider if you are pregnant or sensitive to strong scents.

General Liability By booking any workshop with us, you acknowledge that you are aware of your own health conditions and allergies. The Thicket Lab is not liable for allergic reactions to materials used during the session.
